Since 2005, the team of specialists from AMEV- an international organization comprising experts from Belgium, France, Brazil, and several other countries- has collaborated with Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH) to conduct screening sessions for hundreds of children from northern provinces. Over the years, the delegation has also donated medical instruments and provided training and technology transfer in advanced surgical techniques for congenital hand and foot deformities to the hospital’s Orthopedic Department.

For more than two decades, the partnership between VNCH and AMEV has produced practical and meaningful outcomes in the care and treatment of children with physical deformities.
During the most recent mission from October 27 to 31, 2025, AMEV experts and hospital physicians jointly conducted medical consultations and screening for nearly 50 pediatric patients suffering from complex congenital conditions such as brachial plexus injuries, radial and ulnar deficiencies, thumb hypoplasia or aplasia, syndactyly, and post-traumatic or burn-related deformities.
In addition, the delegation donated a range of modern orthopedic equipment- including electric drills and saws, tourniquets, microsurgical instruments, fixation devices (pins, plates, screws), surgical sutures, and splinting materials- to enhance the hospital’s treatment capacity and surgical infrastructure.

At the welcoming ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hien, Vice Director of VNCH, expressed his profound gratitude to AMEV experts for their long-term dedication and contributions.
“The experts have not only shared their invaluable knowledge and skills but have also provided essential medical tools that significantly strengthen our hospital’s treatment capacity,” said Dr. Hien. “We hope that through this continued exchange of expertise, our doctors will further disseminate their knowledge to younger colleagues and provincial hospitals, allowing more children to benefit from advanced surgical techniques for motor deformity correction.”

He also reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to making the most effective use of the donated medical equipment to improve patient outcomes.
Representing the AMEV delegation, Dr. Toan Khuc from the Centre Hospitalier Chrétien, thanked the hospital for its warm hospitality and expressed great pleasure in continuing this fruitful partnership. He emphasized AMEV’s strong commitment to supporting VNCH doctors through both professional expertise and medical equipment.

Dr. Hoang Hai Duc, Head of the Orthopedic Department at VNCH, highlighted that collaboration with AMEV has enabled the hospital’s medical team to master numerous advanced surgical techniques, allowing them to independently perform complex pediatric operations.
This recent program focused on professional exchange and clinical support for children with severe limb deformities. Many modern surgical techniques for hand, upper limb, and lower limb reconstruction were successfully applied, leading to significant improvements in both appearance and mobility for young patients.
Through this ongoing collaboration, hundreds of children with motor deformities receive treatment every year, while the hospital’s orthopedic specialists continue to enhance their professional capacity- contributing to a healthier and brighter future for Vietnamese children.
