On 3 August 2026, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia (NPH), establishing a framework for cooperation in clinical services, medical education and training, scientific research, and professional capacity development, with the shared goal of improving pediatric healthcare quality in both countries.
Leaders of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia commemorated the signing ceremony, marking the beginning of a long-term and sustainable partnership.
Strengthening Connectivity and Expanding Professional Collaboration
The National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia (NPH) is a public tertiary pediatric hospital under the Ministry of Health of Cambodia, established in 1974. Over the years, the Hospital has continuously strengthened its capacity in clinical services, medical education, and professional development, playing a significant role in pediatric healthcare in Cambodia.
Representatives of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia introduced the development, clinical activities, and key strengths of their respective institutions, fostering mutual understanding and identifying potential areas for future collaboration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Tran Minh Dien, MD, PhD, Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia and discussing future collaboration between the two institutions. He emphasized that the signing of the MOU represents an important milestone, providing a solid foundation for expanding institutional partnerships, strengthening professional exchange, and sharing expertise, thereby contributing to improvements in the quality of pediatric healthcare services.
Prof. Tran Minh Dien expressed his confidence that the partnership would bring tangible benefits to both institutions and, most importantly, enhance pediatric healthcare services for children in Vietnam and Cambodia.
On behalf of the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia, Dr. Nhip Angkeabos, Director of the Hospital, expressed his delight in establishing formal cooperation with Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and affirmed that the signing of the MOU reflects the continuously growing partnership between the two institutions.

As part of the programme, Dr. Kith Daronic, Chief of the Department of Respiratory and Allergology of the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia, shared her experience following her clinical training at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in early 2026 and reported on the implementation of pediatric bronchoscopy in Cambodia. Following intensive hands-on training, the Hospital began performing the procedure in April 2026 and has successfully completed 10 pediatric bronchoscopies to date. Establishing this service locally has significantly strengthened the Hospital’s capacity for diagnosing and treating pediatric respiratory diseases while reducing the need for emergency referrals to other facilities.
Dr. Kith Daronic expressed her sincere appreciation for the support provided by experts from Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and looked forward to continued collaboration in training, professional exchange, and technology transfer.
Translating the Partnership into Practical Professional Collaboration
Under the terms of the MOU, both institutions agreed to strengthen collaboration in pediatric healthcare, clinical services, medical education and training, scientific research, and professional capacity building. Priority areas include the exchange of pediatric specialists, multidisciplinary consultation for complex pediatric cases, the development of clinical protocols and professional guidelines, and the organization of training programmes, scientific conferences, collaborative research, and academic exchange activities.
The two hospitals also agreed to share experience in hospital management, quality improvement, and patient care, while gradually expanding subspecialty services based on the needs and strengths of each institution.

Witnessed by representatives from both institutions, leaders of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia officially signed the MOU, laying the foundation for practical and sustainable collaborative activities in the years ahead.

Following the signing ceremony, the Cambodian delegation visited the Neonatal Care Center, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, and the Specialized Outpatient Department of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to observe clinical services and exchange professional experience with their Vietnamese counterparts.

Building on the initial achievements in training and technology transfer, together with the newly established partnership framework, the two hospitals will continue implementing joint training programmes, professional exchange activities, and technical support initiatives. These efforts will progressively translate the commitments outlined in the MOU into practical collaborative programmes, ultimately contributing to improved pediatric healthcare and child health outcomes in both Vietnam and Cambodia.
