Impact Health Vietnam and Vietnam National Children’s Hospital: Prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation

On the morning of March 25th, 2024, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital warmly welcomed the delegation of Impact Health Vietnam (IHVN) to visit and collaborate on the fields of pathology and hematology.

Established in 2012, Impact Health Vietnam is a non-profit organization in Minnesota, USA. The organization’s initial vision and goal were to focus on training Vietnamese physicians and experts in the fields of cardiovascular intervention and cardiac surgery. In order to meet the demand for training in pediatric pathology and oncology, IHVN has expanded its team of experts in hematology and clinical laboratory since 2014. The organization also held online conferences and diagnostic consultations in the field of hematology for numerous Vietnamese pathologists from 2019 until now.

It is the first time for IHVN to make an official visit to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. The delegation of IHVN included Ms. Nguyen Tran Hoang Yen – President of Impact Health Vietnam and Dr. Vanessa Jane Dayton – Pathologist at Hennepin Healthcare in USA.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Cao Viet Tung – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital warmly welcomed Impact Health Vietnam to visit the hospital. He not only highlighted some outstanding achievements, and future development orientation of the hospital, but also mentioned the second campus in Quoc Oai. It is expected to be augurated in July 2024, focusing on Pathology and Hematology. Additionally, the hospital will care about developing Stem Cell, meeting its role as a unit for stem cell storage, research, and therapy. The cooperation between the two sides will have a great opportunity to expand and achieve good results in the near future.

During the meeting, Dr. Vanessa Jane Dayton said that they would examine and assess the actual quality of the hospital’s pathology laboratory to propose specific solutions. At the same time, the delegation would hold 2 sessions to share and update the knowledge for doctors in the fields of pathology and hematology. They would also give advice on complex cases, and consult on training activities, professional exchanges for the doctors at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of IHVN visited some departments of the hospital such as Oncology Center, Hematology Department, and Pathology Department.

With the aim of accessing to global health achivements, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital has focused on enhancing international cooperation with many developed countries all over the It is hoped that the cooperation between the hospital and Impact Health Vietnam will achieve great success, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare for Vietnamese children in the future.
