École des hautes études en santé publique – EHESP/School of Public Health (France) visited Vietnam National Children’s Hospital

On the afternoon of March 26th 2024, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital was pleased to welcome the representatives of École des hautes études en santé publique (EHESP) to visit and discuss on the prospects of collaboration in human resource training.

EHESP, which established in 1945, is a public school with the mission of training leaders, managers, and inspectors in the fields of health and social sectors; providing a network of public health education; conducting community health research; developing international relations, and exchanging with institutions offering equivalent courses.

Currently, EHESP is implementing a regional project named “Assessing the training need of hospital management in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam”, which includes evaluating training need and feasibility studies for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to identify key areas for cooperation, provide recommendations for building a regional training program that meets the specific contexts of each country.

Vietnam National Children’s Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Vietnam selected by EHESP for this project. Ms. Marie Annick Josette Kernec – Director of EHESP and Prof.Anne Claude Marie Le Gagne from EHESP visited Vietnam National Children’s Hospital on 26th March.

Ms. Marie Annick Josette Kernec – Director of EHESP introduced the project “Assessing the training need of hospital management in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.”

At the meeting, Cao Viet Tung M.D, PhD – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital stated that the hospital is a leading pediatric hospital in Vietnam, and has over 4,000 outpatient children and 2,000 inpatient children with complex diseases every day. In addition to healthcare services, the hospital also conducts scientific research, international cooperation, training, and provides guidance to lower-level hospitals from North to Central Vietnam.

Cao Viet Tung M.D, PhD – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital shared with the representatives of EHESP some development orientations of the hospital in the near future.

At the moment, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital is implementing the project “Building a set of index of the evaluation of BSC-KPI” in management operatios at the International Center and will apply it throughout the hospital in the near future. In addition, the second campus Quoc Oai is expected to start operating soon, so the hospital is focusing on improving the quality of human resources training, especially in fields of hematology, oncology, as well as digital transformation, and human resource management.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues such as the hospital’s structure, management, organization, healthcare services, technical platforms, short-term and long-term development strategies, and training plans for doctors, nurses, and management teams.

Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and EHESP exchanged and shared insights during the meeting.

EHESP representatives confirmed that they would assess the reality to develop appropriate training programs, contribute to enhancing the quality of human resources at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. Beside the project, they also expressed their desire for future cooperation opportunities with Vietnam National Children’s Hospital.
