On 01/06/2026, coinciding with International Children’s Day, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital officially inaugurated and brought Campus 2 into operation in Kieu Phu Commune (former Quoc Oai District), Hanoi. This is not only a significant milestone in the Hospital’s development journey, but also opens greater opportunities for more children to access high-quality, safe, modern, and compassionate healthcare services.

In a formal ceremony, delegates pressed the inauguration button—marking the moment the new campus officially entered operation and began serving patients.
The ceremony was attended by Ms. Dao Hong Lan (Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Health); Mr. Tran Van Thuan (Deputy Minister of Health); Mr. Le Duc Luan (Deputy Minister of Health); leaders of departments and agencies under the Ministry of Health; leaders of Hanoi and local authorities (Kieu Phu Commune, Lang Ward); leaders of hospitals and health-sciences universities; former leaders of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital across different periods; and the Hospital’s staff and employees.

Delegates watched an introductory video about Campus 2, covering the construction journey, strategic direction, and development vision.
Expanding the scale and capacity of Viet Nam’s leading pediatric hospital
In recent years, demand for pediatric healthcare has continued to increase. To meet this real need, the Government invested in the construction of Campus 2 to gradually reduce overload at the main campus, strengthen the national pediatric healthcare system, and expand access to high-quality services for children.

A panoramic view of Campus 2 shows modern, well-equipped facilities.
Campus 2 is a unit under Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and operates under a unified model of clinical governance, management, workforce, and finance—one brand, one standard of clinical quality, and one system of technical procedures.
Contributing to strengthened national pediatric healthcare capacity
In her remarks, Minister Dao Hong Lan recognized and highly appreciated the efforts of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and relevant stakeholders in implementing the project, completing facilities, and bringing Campus 2 into operation.

The Minister expressed confidence that, with an experienced expert team, modern equipment, and consistent clinical alignment between the two campuses, Campus 2 will build on the Hospital’s tradition to remain a trusted destination for families, reduce overload at Campus 1, and contribute to strengthening national pediatric healthcare capacity.
Commitment to building a “safe and compassionate medical home” for children
He emphasized that bringing Campus 2 into operation is not an endpoint, but the start of a new development stage with greater tasks and responsibilities. The Hospital committed to:
- continuing to uphold the Hospital’s tradition,
- continuously innovating and improving clinical quality and services,
- using allocated resources effectively, and
- ensuring that every child—regardless of which campus they visit—can access high-quality, safe, humane, and caring healthcare.

Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien also expressed gratitude for the Ministry of Health’s direction, inter-sectoral and local coordination, and broader societal support that enabled the project to be completed and officially launched.

Nearly 400 children seen on the first day at Campus 2
This commitment was demonstrated immediately on the first day of operation. Following the inauguration ceremony, the Hospital organized free medical examinations for nearly 400 children, giving them access to high-quality services and attentive care from experienced clinicians.
Many children and families expressed their joy and appreciation that Vietnam National Children’s Hospital now has a new campus at the western gateway of Hanoi, helping reduce travel time and costs for medical visits.

Smiles from children, reassurance among parents, and dedicated clinicians created meaningful moments on opening day.

Delegates also toured the facilities, functional areas, and care pathways at Campus 2—from reception and emergency services to laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, and treatment units—all ready to serve patients. Former Hospital leaders and attendees shared emotional reflections during the ceremony.

At the end of the program, the Minister of Health and delegates planted commemorative trees on the Hospital grounds. The newly planted greenery symbolized the beginning of a new journey—where Campus 2 will gradually strengthen its role as a modern pediatric center and create expanded space for Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to continue fulfilling its mission of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of children in Viet Nam.
