Nearly 1,000 delegates and 120 scientific reports from leading domestic and international pediatric experts are the impressive figures of the “Vietnam National Children’s Hospital Pediatric Congress 2024”. Taking place on 3 days from July 11 to 13, 2024, the event is a part of a series of activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (1969 – 2024), marking a journey with many outstanding achievements.

Overview of the “Vietnam National Children’s Hospital Pediatric Congress 2024”

This is an opportunity for experts, scientists, and doctors to share knowledge and updates on diagnosis and treatment; continue to research and develop advanced techniques to provide the best service for child health care.

The congress was honored to welcome leaders from the departments under the Ministry of Health, Vietnam Pediatric Association, former hospital leaders, and leading domestic and international pediatric experts.

At the beginning, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien – Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, President of Vietnam Pediatric Association affirmed that over the past 55 years of development many generations of pediatric doctors at the hospital have continuously strived to build a strong and modern hospital today.

From the 2000s until now, the hospital has achieved in-depth development in international integration, lower-level support, epidemic prevention, training, research, and management. With a large volume of pediatric patients and complex disease patterns, the doctors have always met the requirements in terms of diagnosis and treatment. We also ensure flexible management operations with full equipment, supplies, and medicines.

In addition, we always focus on training and scientific research activities. Many scientific research projects on children’s health have been implemented and applied in practice and published in prestigious domestic and international scientific journals. Many international conferences are held annually.

Vietnam National Children’s Hospital hopes that the congress will become a change to connect and share the knowledge and experiences in diagnosis and treatment among scientists and doctors.

In the event, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang – Acting Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health congratulated the achievements of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital over 55 years. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the hospital’s doctors will provide direction on the future pediatric healthcare model, including:

  • Focusing on children’s mental health to meet the needs and development of society.
  • Strengthening international cooperation to research and apply new technology methods which will develop strategies such as protein cell therapy in pediatrics.
  • Interesting in emerging and re-emerging diseases and infections, evaluating vaccine gaps for diseases that have recently re-emerged, such as measles, pertussis, diphtheria…
  • Applying big data and artificial intelligence in diagnostic and treatment methods for pediatric diseases.
  • Researching new drugs and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of rare diseases to make it easier for doctors and patients to access by actively participating in multi-center, multi-national studies, as Vietnam National Children’s Hospital is doing.
  • All scientific and technological research and development must comply with the law and adhere strictly to medical ethics.

Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang also affirmed that the Department of Science, Technology, and Training, Ministry of Health will always coordinate and support Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to enhance science and technology in child healthcare.

Main Session: Providing Extensive Scientific Information, Clinical Experience, and Proposing Solutions to Improve Children’s Health

The conference includes pre-conference training sessions, plenary session, reporting on scientific research, and specialized sessions. There are nearly 120 high-quality reports with 11 topics: Emergency – Resuscitation, Developmental Medicine – Mental Health, Kidney – Immunology, Neurology, Neonatology – Fetal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Respiratory, Endocrinology – Metabolism – Genetics, Gastroenterology – Nutrition – Hepatology, Surgery, Clinical Pharmacy. It has provided delegates with a lot of knowledge about diagnosis, treatment, and the application of advanced scientific and technical knowledge in child health care.

Leading Pediatric Experts from Vietnam, the USA, France, the Netherlands, South Korea, China… at the plenary session

The scientific reports were attractively presented with solid theoretical bases and medical evidence. They are suitable for the research purpose; and the research results have important reference value for doctors which achieve the conference’s goals. At the same time, this is a valuable opportunity for delegates to learn about scientific research achievements from national and local pediatric doctors’ projects and topics.

Vietnam National Children’s Hospital Pediatric Congress 2024 was highly appreciated by colleagues for its novelty, creativity, and practical application.

Successful Pre-conference Workshops on Hemodynamic Ultrasound Evaluation and Continuous Training Sessions

On July 11, a workshop on Hemodynamic Ultrasound Evaluation and pre-conference continuous training sessions with topics on gastroenterology, nutrition, hepatology, immunology, infection control, and surgery were successfully organized. The classes attracted more than 500 trainees from pediatric hospitals, obstetric hospitals, and medical and pharmaceutical universities.

Thanks to enthusiastic teaching from experienced lecturers and the serious and active participation of trainees, the workshop and six training sessions achieved many good results.

Outstanding Young Speaker” Contest with 25 Impressive Reports

Within the framework of the conference, the “Outstanding Young Speaker” contest was organized for speakers under 40 years old, attracting 25 participants competing with research topics in various fields. This is an opportunity for young researchers to demonstrate their scientific research skills and lay the groundwork for more extensive research in the future. At the end of the contest, the organizers awarded 02 first prizes, 02 second prizes, 02 third prizes, and 02 consolation prizes to the young speakers.

Vietnam National Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Congress 2024 concluded successfully with a high scientific spirit from in-depth research reports. It is hoped that the professional exchange between experts, scientists, and pediatric doctors from all over the country will help improve the quality of child health care in Vietnam, where every child has the right to equitable health care.
