From Vietnam National Children’s Hospital Telehealth Center, our doctors are able to connect with different hospital to support diagnosis and treatment. Support lower level to treat many severe and complicated diseases.

The case of an 8-month-old girl (in Ninh Binh) can be mentioned. Before entering the hospital, the child was sick for 12 days, had continuous high fever, coughing, difficulty breathing gradually increased. The child was taken to Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital by his family with respiratory failure, purple lips, and rapid heart rate. Doctors at Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital diagnosed him with pleural pneumonia/Monitored for necrotizing pneumonia. Despite pleural drainage and mechanical ventilation, the child’s fever persisted, the condition progressed slowly.

At the teleconference on February 25, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien – Director of VNCH, experts from VNCH agreed with the diagnosis and treatment direction of Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital; At the same time, this child needs to have pleural dissection and drainage of the abscess to completely resolve the infection. However, this laparoscopic technique has not been implemented at the Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital. After reviewing and evaluating the child’s condition to meet the standards for safe transportation, the patient was transferred and successfully performed the operation at the National Children’s Hospital

Continue to improve the quality of children’s health care through the Telehealth

The VNCH Telehealth Center officially opened in September 2020. After 6 months of implementation, the program has become a routine activity at the Hospital. Up to now, the National Children’s Hospital has connected 174 sites; conducting inter-hospital and inter-specialty consultations for more than 100 cases of severe patients.

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien affirmed that during the time when the Covid-19 epidemic is still complicated like today, the Telehealth program is even more effective while ensuring the requirements of social distancing.
