From 14 to 27 March 2026, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital is collaborating with Nuoy Reconstructive International (USA) to implement a comprehensive program providing medical examinations, reconstructive surgeries, and professional training related to craniofacial anomalies in children. The program is expected to screen, evaluate, and provide surgical treatment for nearly 100 pediatric patients with congenital craniofacial deformities, while also facilitating academic exchange and specialized training activities for healthcare professionals.
On the first working day of the program, the delegations collaborated with doctors from the Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery Department of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to conduct screening examinations and multidisciplinary consultations for children with craniofacial anomalies. Following detailed evaluations, eligible cases were selected and scheduled for surgery during the mission period.

In addition to clinical activities, the program includes a range of academic exchanges aimed at strengthening professional capacity among Vietnamese physicians. Experts from the United States are delivering specialized scientific sessions on topics such as: Management of difficult pediatric airways; Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia in children.
The visiting specialists also participate in bedside consultations and multidisciplinary discussions on treatment strategies for complex craniofacial cases together with the hospital’s medical team.
During the program, international experts and Vietnamese surgeons will jointly perform multiple reconstructive procedures for children with complex craniofacial disorders. These include challenging conditions such as: Apert syndrome, characterized by cranial and facial deformities; Midface hypoplasia. Through these surgical collaborations, doctors at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital gain valuable opportunities to access and learn advanced techniques in craniofacial reconstructive surgery.

Nuoy Reconstructive International is a non-profit organization based in the United States dedicated to advancing reconstructive surgery in low- and middle-income countries through training, research, and technical support. Over the years, the organization has actively supported Vietnam National Children’s Hospital through professional training programs, technology transfer, and medical equipment assistance.
On 16 March, hospital leaders welcomed the delegation of experts from Nuoy Reconstructive International for a working meeting. During the discussion, Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hien, Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, expressed appreciation for the continued support provided by the American specialists and emphasized the importance of further expanding collaborative programs to enhance pediatric healthcare services.

With the support of experienced international experts, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital continues to strengthen its role as one of the leading centers in Vietnam for the treatment of craniofacial deformities and pediatric reconstructive surgery.
Meaningful international cooperation programs such as this not only expand treatment opportunities for children with craniofacial conditions but also help bring brighter futures—and confident smiles—to many young patients across the country.
