During March 5–6, 2026, a delegation of experts from UCSF (USA) visited and worked at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. The visit contributed to strengthening international cooperation while supporting the enhancement of diagnostic and treatment capacity for complex airway diseases in children.
On the morning of March 5, the hospital formally welcomed the UCSF expert delegation. Representing the visiting experts were Prof. Dr. Hung Gia Nguyen – Deputy Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Center, and Assoc. Prof. Lia Kristina Jacobson – an Otolaryngology specialist. On the side of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Cao Viet Tung – Vice Director of the Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Le Thi Hong Hanh – Director of the Respiratory Center, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ly Thinh Truong – Director of the Heart Center, together with leaders from relevant departments.

UCSF (USA) is one of the world’s leading pediatric hospitals, bringing together many renowned specialists, modern medical equipment systems, and a high standard of treatment quality.
Over the years, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital has maintained professional collaboration with experts from UCSF through various exchange and training programs. These activities have helped the hospital’s physicians gain access to modern medical advances and enhance their capacity to treat complex pediatric conditions.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Cao Viet Tung – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the expert delegation and emphasized his expectation that both sides would continue to strengthen cooperation in professional exchange, training, and technology transfer in order to improve treatment effectiveness for pediatric patients.

Prof. Dr. Hung Gia Nguyen expressed his sincere appreciation to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital for the warm reception, and affirmed his readiness to share experience and promote further professional collaboration between the two sides in the coming time.
Within the program, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on bronchoscopy models, approaches and treatment for subglottic stenosis, and shared experiences in patient management and care at UCSF.
The experts also visited the Respiratory Center and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, where they exchanged professional experience and discussed several representative clinical cases in order to enhance the effectiveness of diagnosis and timely treatment of complex airway diseases in children.

The visit and working session of the expert delegation not only created opportunities for physicians from the two hospitals to share professional experience and update advanced techniques, but also contributed to strengthening international cooperation in pediatrics. This also represents an important step in the efforts of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to access modern medical advances, improve the quality of healthcare services, and provide better treatment opportunities for children in Vietnam.
