Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH) welcomed a delegation of specialists from Okayama University Hospital, Japan, for a visit aimed at exchanging expertise and exploring future collaboration opportunities in pediatric cardiology.
Representing VNCH were Dr. Phan Huu Phuc, Vice Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ly Thinh Truong, Director of the Heart Center; along with leading cardiologists and medical experts from the hospital.

Two sides discuss to explore potential for collaboration
Okayama University Hospital is one of Japan’s leading medical centers, renowned for its strengths in congenital heart surgery, organ transplantation, cancer treatment, and robotic surgery.
During the meeting, the two sides shared in-depth professional insights and discussed potential areas for cooperation. The Japanese delegation introduced an advanced software application currently used in Japan for the care and treatment of congenital heart disease patients, which has proven particularly effective in improving outcomes for patients in rural areas.

Prof. Shingo Kasahara, Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Okayama University Hospital, presented the application of information and communication technology (ICT) in congenital heart disease management in Japan.
In his remarks, Dr. Phan Huu Phuc provided an overview of VNCH and its Heart Center, expressing appreciation for the Japanese delegation’s presence. He expressed hope that this partnership would grow stronger, creating opportunities for training, research collaboration, and the adoption of advanced techniques in pediatric cardiac treatment in Vietnam.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ly Thinh Truong extended heartfelt thanks to the visiting experts and expressed his wish to soon implement effective joint initiatives to improve pediatric cardiac care.
The visit marked an important opportunity for professional exchange and relationship-building between the two hospitals, laying the groundwork for future advancements in pediatric cardiology cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Okayama University Hospital delegation conducted an intensive training session for doctors at VNCH’s Heart Center. The session not only updated participants on the latest developments in pediatric cardiology but also provided access to advanced technological tools currently in use in Japan.
