On January 9, 2026, at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital – Campus 2, located in Kieu Phu Commune (former Quoc Oai District), Hanoi, a delegation from the Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, MD, PhD – Deputy Director General of the Medical Services Administration, conducted an on-site appraisal for the issuance of an operating license.
The appraisal delegation included Ms. Tran Thi Xuan Hang, MSc – Deputy Director General of the Department of Legal Affairs, Deputy Head of the delegation; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, MSc – Deputy Director General of the Department of Infrastructure and Medical Equipment; Ms. Truong Le Van Ngoc, MSc – Head of the Professional Affairs Division, Medical Services Administration, along with officials from the Medical Services Administration and the Department of Legal Affairs.
In addition, the delegation included experts from several central-level hospitals, such as Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital, National Hospital of Acupuncture, and Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital.
Representing Vietnam National Children’s Hospital were Professor Tran Minh Dien, MD, PhD – Director of the hospital; Dr. Cao Viet Tung, MD, PhD and Dr. Hoang Minh Phuong, PhD – Deputy Directors, together with leaders of departments, divisions, and centers.

At the meeting, Ms. Truong Le Van Ngoc, MSc – Head of the Professional Affairs and Health Protection for Officials Division, Medical Services Administration, announced Decision No. 04/KCB dated January 1, 2026, issued by the Medical Services Administration on the establishment of the appraisal delegation for the operating license of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital – Campus 2.

During the appraisal, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital presented an overall report and submitted complete documentation related to infrastructure, medical equipment, technical service lists, human resources, professional procedures, and development orientation.
According to Dr. Cao Viet Tung, MD, PhD – Deputy Director of the Hospital, Campus 2 is a national key project, with construction commencing in February 2023 on a total area of approximately 6 hectares. The total construction area is 7,530 m², comprising four buildings: one 6-storey administrative building, one 3-storey paraclinical building, and two 5-storey inpatient treatment buildings, along with auxiliary facilities and technical infrastructure.
The hospital has a capacity of 300 inpatient beds, with modern infrastructure and medical equipment installed in accordance with technical procedures and standards of the Ministry of Health. It is capable of receiving approximately 1,000–1,500 pediatric outpatient visits per day.

Regarding human resources, Campus 2 currently has 338 healthcare staff, including 99 physicians and 204 nurses and medical technicians, who are deployed on a rotational basis from Campus 1 under the approved staffing plan. The hospital has also completed all legal procedures related to environmental protection, fire prevention and fighting, and construction acceptance. In the initial phase, Campus 2 is expected to prioritize emergency care, intensive care, surgical services, and treatment of infectious diseases and pediatric cancers, thereby helping reduce overcrowding at Campus 1.

After on-site inspections of infrastructure and medical equipment, and a thorough review of documentation, the appraisal delegation highly appreciated the hospital’s systematic and synchronized investment in infrastructure and medical equipment. The delegation also acknowledged the hospital’s serious preparations in the legal framework, human resources, technical service lists, management procedures, and professional protocols. At the same time, delegation members provided several recommendations to help the hospital with documentation before submission to the Ministry of Health for consideration and issuance of the operating license in the near future.

Concluding the appraisal, Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, MD, PhD – Deputy Director General of the Medical Services Administration, Ministry of Health, and Head of the Appraisal Delegation, highly commended the preparation of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital – Campus 2. He requested that the hospital promptly complete the content based on the delegation’s recommendations, focus on arranging equipment, supplementing documentation, and finalizing human resources, ensure technical synchronization between the two campuses, strictly comply with safety regulations, and bring Campus 2 into effective operation as soon as possible.
