[International Cooperation News] Strengthening Collaboration with Expert Delegations from the United States, Japan, and Australia to Advance Technology and Enhance Professional Capacity at the Hospital

During the past week (September 8–14, 2025), Vietnam National Children’s Hospital welcomed and worked with four delegations of experts from leading hospitals, universities, and health and technology organizations worldwide. The discussions and collaborations focused on training, professional exchange, and the application of modern technologies in pediatric healthcare.

1. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (USA) Donates Medical Equipment to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital

On September 8, 2025, the Hospital welcomed a delegation from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (USA). During the visit, the delegation presented advanced medical equipment, including a head holder system for surgery and neurosurgical instruments, to support pediatric treatment and surgical care.

Appreciating the valuable support, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hien – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital – extended sincere gratitude to the delegation and expressed his hope to further strengthen long-term collaboration, particularly in training and the transfer of advanced medical techniques.

2. Promoting Collaboration in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine with Australian Experts

On September 9, 2025, during a working session with Australian experts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Huu Phuc – Vice Director of the Hospital – introduced an overview of the Hospital’s operations, emphasizing the large number of pediatric patients, including many with complex and rare respiratory diseases. He expressed his wish to receive professional support, especially in training and sharing expertise in pediatric respiratory medicine.

In response, the experts affirmed their commitment to cooperation and praised the Hospital’s professional efforts. Both sides agreed to maintain close connections and move forward with collaborative activities, starting with the workshop “Pediatric Interstitial Lung Disease 2025” held from September 9–10, 2025.

3. Partnership with Orbis International (USA): Enhancing Pediatric Eye Care

On September 12, 2025, the Hospital held a working session with Orbis International (USA). Over the years, Orbis and the Hospital have developed a strong partnership. This occasion provided an opportunity to discuss in detail the management of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), pediatric eye surgery training activities currently being implemented at the Hospital, and the progress and plans of the upcoming ROP Project.

Orbis representatives highly appreciated the Hospital’s achievements and positive impact in diagnosing, treating, and caring for pediatric patients with eye diseases. They also pledged continued support through technical assistance, training, and professional consultation for the Ophthalmology Department in the coming period.

4. Working with Medmain Inc. (Japan) on Potential Technology Applications in Pathology

A highlight of the week was the working session with Medmain Inc. (Japan), a company specializing in AI-based solutions for diagnostic imaging and pathology.

The two sides discussed the Pidport system for pathology and the potential application of the WSI–SFIDA scanner integrated with artificial intelligence for digital slide analysis. This was recognized as a promising direction to improve diagnostic efficiency and professional quality in pathology at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital.

Through expanding international cooperation, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving pediatric healthcare in Vietnam, strengthening its position as a trusted partner of international organizations, and contributing to the development of pediatrics toward modernity, specialization, and alignment with international standards.
