Every year on September 29, the world unites to observe World Heart Day. The 2025 theme, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” delivers a meaningful reminder: cherish every heartbeat and take action to protect cardiovascular health starting today.

In Vietnam, on average, about 8 out of every 1,000 newborns have congenital heart disease. Many children face long, even life-threatening treatment journeys if not detected and treated promptly. Additionally, cardiovascular risk factors in children such as obesity, high blood pressure, and blood lipid disorders are increasing due to unhealthy diets and lifestyles.
The message “Don’t Miss a Beat” is also a call to the community—especially parents—to pay proper attention to children’s heart health:
- Don’t miss the opportunity for early cardiovascular screening, especially for newborns and children at high risk.
- Don’t miss abnormal signs in children such as rapid breathing, bluish lips, poor weight gain, fatigue while feeding or during physical activity.
- Don’t miss the time to intervene or treat when recommended by doctors, because every healthy heartbeat today is the foundation for a bright future for your child.
As the leading pediatric referral hospital, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital always stands alongside patients and families in early detection and timely treatment of cardiovascular diseases in children. With a team of experienced cardiology specialists and advanced intervention and surgical techniques, tens of thousands of children have been given the chance to live healthy lives and continue their childhoods alongside their peers.

On World Heart Day, September 29, 2025, let’s join hands to raise awareness, proactively prevent, and care for children’s cardiovascular health – so that not a single heartbeat is missed.
