Enhancing Knowledge in Diagnosing and Treating Pediatric Allergic and Respiratory Diseases with French-Vietnamese Association of Pneumology

From October 29 to November 1, 2024, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with experts from French-Vietnamese Association of Pneumology, successfully organized two training courses: “Pediatric Allergy” and “Pediatric Pulmonology.” These courses were designed for doctors from Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and various pediatric, obstetric, and general hospitals all over Vietnam. The primary objective was to enhance knowledge, exchange experiences, and update new techniques in diagnosing and treating allergic and respiratory diseases in children.

The training sessions took place at Department of Immunology – Allergy – Rheumatology and Respiratory Center of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, with the participation of Dr. Phan Huu Phuc, Vice Director of the hospital. Attendees included doctors from Vietnam National Children’s Hospital and physicians from pediatric, obstetric, and general hospitals across the country.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Phan Huu Phuc expressed deep appreciation for the valuable cooperation between French-Vietnamese Association of Pneumology and Vietnam National Children’s Hospital over the years. He emphasized the importance of continued support from experts to train high-quality personnel and advance the fields of Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy – Immunology.

Dr. Phan Huu Phuc, Vice Director of the hospital, said thank-you to the experts for attending the training course.

The “Pediatric Allergy” course featured presentations from Dr. Laura Couderc, Dr. Laura Boussard, Dr. Jean Luc Fauquert, Dr. Jean Louis Degraix, and Dr. Carine Metz Favre. Topics covered included: Diagnosis and treatment of pediatric asthma; Asthma control and health education; Allergies to beta-lactam antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; Ocular allergies: allergic conjunctivitis; Allergic rhinitis; Contrast agent allergies…

The practical and updated content attracted many doctors from hospitals nationwide, significantly contributing to the training of high-quality healthcare professionals in Vietnam.

In the “Pediatric Pulmonology” course, Dr. Celine Menetrey from Dupuytren University Hospital and Prof. Philippe Reix from Mother and Child Hospital in Lyon shared their expertise on: Lung injuries in premature infants and bronchopulmonary dysplasia; Bronchiectasis, chronic productive cough, tracheomalacia; Diffuse interstitial lung diseases (ILD)…

The comprehensive lectures, from basic to advanced topics, attracted the participants. The sessions were dynamic, with active discussions between lecturers and attendees, creating an engaging learning environment.

The training courses were successfully held, providing valuable opportunities for learning and sharing among doctors, contributing to the improvement of pediatric healthcare quality in Vietnam.
