Assoc. Dr. Tran Minh Dien – Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital said that the project took place in 6 months (from April to September 2020) and was deployed at about 30 hospitals from the hospital’s satellite hospital network. National Children’s Hospital in the north and from the network of Ho Chi Minh City Infection Control Association in the south of Vietnam. The long-term goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of health care workers to implement measures to prevent transmission and prepare hospitals to be ready to respond to the COVID-19 epidemic. In addition, the project also has three short-term goals such as: assessing the readiness of provincial and district hospitals in responding to the COVID-19 epidemic, improving the capacity of health workers. in implementing measures to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 epidemic, strengthen the support of the hospital network system to disseminate and update information on the disease situation.
Project activities include: development of training materials with the most basic content and topics on infection control and clinical management of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 based on current guidelines, the most updated by the Government and the Ministry of Health of Vietnam; organize training courses taught by leading Vietnamese medical experts in the field of Clinical and Infection Control Respiratory and Active Treatment; Technical support for provincial and district hospitals to best implement the Guidelines and Regulations of the Ministry of Health on COVID-19.
“We hope that through this project, provincial and district hospitals will strengthen their capacity and ability to respond to the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping facilities to be able to handle the pandemic well. cases of COVID-19, while protecting staff, patients and the community from the spread of the virus,” added Prof. Dien.
