On the morning of June 30, 2025, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH) welcomed a delegation of experts from the St. Jude – KKH Asia-Pacific Pediatric Pathology Program for a working visit aimed at promoting collaboration in the field of pediatric pathology.
The delegation’s working agenda is scheduled to take place over five days (from June 30 to July 4, 2025) at the Department of Pathology, VNCH. The focus of the visit is a retrospective study of pediatric kidney tumor cases that have been diagnosed and treated at the hospital.
This collaborative project is expected to enhance the capacity of pediatric pathology in Vietnam and contribute to developing diagnostic standards tailored to the clinical realities of pediatric kidney cancer in the country.
The St. Jude – KKH Asia-Pacific Pediatric Pathology Program, launched in 2006, is a collaborative initiative between KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Singapore) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (USA). To date, the program has grown into a robust network of more than 55 medical institutions across 13 countries, including Vietnam.
The program’s mission is to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric cancers through knowledge-sharing, multidisciplinary training, and the advancement of diagnostic and pathology practices.

During their five-day engagement, the visiting experts will work closely with the Department of Pathology at VNCH to help strengthen pediatric pathology capabilities not only at the hospital but also more broadly across Vietnam.
It is hoped that this visit will serve as a strong foundation for a sustainable partnership, paving the way toward the establishment of national standards for pediatric cancer care and quality control in Vietnam, with potential to expand across the Asia-Pacific region.
Proposed areas of professional collaboration include:
- Specialized training programs
- Workshops and seminars on pediatric oncology pathology
- Online meetings and accredited courses (e.g., Cure4Kids platform)
- Enhancing laboratory test quality
- Establishing quality management systems
- Applying digital pathology techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy
- Expanding the expert network and sharing clinical research and technical knowledge
