In order to continuously improve the quality of healthcare services, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital consistently expands international cooperation in training, research, technology transfer, and the development of advanced techniques. Between September 23rd and September 30th, 2024, the hospital welcomed and worked with four delegations of experts from prestigious organizations, hospitals, and universities worldwide.
1 – The Université Libre de Bruxelles and Vietnam National Children: fostering long-term cooperation opportunities
On the morning of September 23, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital warmly welcomed the French delegation, represented by Prof. Corinne Manolite F. Becker and Dr. Frederic Lucien Bismut from the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Trần Minh Điển expressed his desire for the two sides to establish a long-term partnership, particularly in Pediatric Orthopedics, as well as other specialties, allowing the hospital’s doctors to enhance their expertise and fulfill the mission of caring for the health of Vietnamese children.
Through the meeting, Prof. Corinne Manolite F. Becker from Université Libre de Bruxelles affirmed that the expert delegation is ready to cooperate and assist Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in achieving European standards in surgical treatment.
2 – Children’s of Alabama Hospital (USA) visiting and granting medical equipment to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital
The two hospitals have maintained a good collaborative relationship since 2016. From September 24 to 27, 2024, the delegation Children’s of Alabama Hospital (USA) supported patient consultations, and transferred functional cortical mapping techniques to detect epileptic foci using cortical electrical stimulation for the doctors of the Neurology Center. Additionally, they donated modern medical equipment, including one neurodiagnostic machine and one surface brain stimulator for localizing functional brain regions at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital.
3 – Productive collaboration with Neurokids organization on the treatment of hydrocephalus and spinal meningocele in children
Since January 2024, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital has cooperated with doctors from Neurokids organization in several research and training programs for the hospital’s medical staff, enhancing their skills in treating hydrocephalus and spinal meningocele.
On September 26, Neurokids delegation, led by Executive Director Mr. Derek Brad Johnson, visited and worked with the hospital. The meeting was successful, opening up more opportunities for advanced treatment methods that minimize the need for surgery for children with hydrocephalus and spinal meningocele.
4 – Collaboration with MEDRIX on nursing and mental health programs for children
During this visit, MEDRIX discussed collaboration with the Nursing Department on enhancing coordination between nursing and infection control to ensure the safety of medical staff, patients, and caregivers, aiming for optimal treatment outcomes.
Regarding mental health programs, the two parties had practical discussions to formulate a plan that would support the hospital’s specialists in working with families and adolescents facing issues such as isolation due to COVID-19, learning environment challenges, generational gaps, or changing cultural norms.
Mr. Robert Lee Catherman, President of MEDRIX, stated that the organization would closely cooperate with the hospital to enhance patient care in nursing, psychology, and infection control through research and training activities.
Building strong international partnerships in training, research, and technology transfer is the key to helping Vietnam National Children’s Hospital continuously improve and provide better healthcare for Vietnamese children.
