Handover Ceremony of Medical Equipment from Children’s of Alabama (USA)

Children’s of Alabama led by Assoc.Prof.PhD. Brandon G.Rocque visited Vietnam National Children’s Hospital to handover medical equipment and work with Neurological Center in field of installation of cerebral cortex surface electrodes for patients with complicated seizures from September 2nd to 8th, 2023.

On the morning of September 7th, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital celebrated the reception ceremony of medical equipment presented by the Alabama Children’s Hospital (USA).

The participants of NCH include Assoc.Prof.Dr Pham Duy Hien – Deputy Director, PhD.Dr. Cao Viet Hung – Director of Neurological Center, Doctor Specialist Level II Le Nam Thang – Vice Director of Neurological Center and many heads of departments at the hospital.

Children’s of Alabama includes Assoc.Prof. Brandon George Roque – a Neurological Surgery, Prof.PhD. Pongkiat Kankirawatana – Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Center, Dr. Donald Thomas King III, Dr. Casey James Madura and Dr.Steven Tap De Roos.

From 2016 until now, Children’s of Alabama supported doctors of Neurological Center of NCH to operate many patients with complicated seizures successfully. The hospital also donated many modern medical equipment and implement training programs for doctors and technicians from all hospitals in Vietnam.

In the event, the representative of Children’s of Alabama – Assoc.Prof. Dr Brandon G.Rocque granted 2 machines including  128-channel EEG monitoring machine (video EEG Monitoring 128 channels) and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.PhD Pham Duy Hien – Vice Director of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital highly appreciated the donation from Children’s of Alabama. He said: “Neurosurgery is one of the most important areas of Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. Doctors of Neurological Center can operate many difficult and complicated diseases such as brain tumors, seizures, endocrine congestions, endoscopy of the cerebral system and so on. In order to enhance high tech in treatment and reduce mortality, the hospital needs the support within the country and international organizations. Children’s of Alabama not only provides professional and practical training for doctors, but also supports a lot of valuable medical equipment for pediatric patients with epilepsy. We pledge to use these machines for the right purpose and hope that you will continue to work with our hospital in field of health of Vietnamese children”.

Assoc.Prof. Brandon G.Rocque hopes that the cooperation between two sides will continue to develop in order to treat more and more children with epilepsy in Vietnam, contributing to opening up a bright new future for them.
